Get to know Nephrologist Dr. Sunil Hasmukh Patel, who serves patients in Apple Valley, California.

Dr. Patel is a skilled, fellowship-trained nephrologist who specializes in acute and chronic kidney disease & general adult medicine. He is the Medical Director of Advanced Medical and Kidney Institute in Apple Valley, California. His practices medicine with a belief of the Dalai Lama: Love and Compassion are necessities; not luxuries. Without them, Humanity cannot survive.

As such, he takes a holistic and integrative approach to treating conditions like acute kidney injuries, chronic kidney disease, cardiovascular disease, and diabetes. He is dedicated to preventive care and provides resources to help patients reduce their risk factors for hypertension, diabetes, heart diseases, vascular disorders, and other chronic diseases. He also provides comprehensive kidney care to enhance his patients’ quality of life.

In addition to his clinical work at Advanced Medical & Kidney Institute, Dr. Patel serves as the Medical Director of U.S. Renal Care in Victorville, California, and previously as the Utilization Director at St. Mary Medical Center in Apple Valley. 

For the purpose of advancing his professional efforts, he remains a member of several professional organizations, including the American Osteopathic Association, the American Medical Association, the American College of Physicians, the California Medical Society, and the Osteopathic Physicians & Surgeons of California.

Following the completion of his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. Patel went on to complete his internship and residency in internal medicine at the University of Massachusetts Memorial Medical Center in Worcester. This was followed by a fellowship in nephrology and hypertension at Kansas University Medical Center in Kansas City. 

Dedicated to preserving adult health, the doctor is board-certified in internal medicine and nephrology by the American Board of Internal Medicine, which is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve the highest standards for the best care in a rapidly changing world. 

Continuously involved in medical research, Dr. Patel has been recognized multiple times for his work. He is the author of multiple published articles as well as presentation materials for national symposiums and annual meetings throughout the country. He also serves on the advisory boards for several major pharmaceutical companies.
