I have severe whiplash from work. What is the treatment?
Chiropractic adjustments will work to stimulate healing in the areas of injury. They may have other modalities to help recovery such as electrical muscle stimulation, massage work, and exercises. READ MORE
What can be done for my sciatica?
Cortisone injections can be helpful in the beginning of care, especially if the pain is very severe. I will usually recommend a series of adjustments in an effort to relieve irritation of the sciatic nerve. Injuries like that tend to return if you don’t take care of it and/or receive regular care. That’s why I often recommend regular check-ups to maintain progress. READ MORE
What can I expect with a herniated disk?
Diagnosis is based on how you injured it, symptoms, and special examinations performed. MRI is also a way to diagnose it. It will typically be a series of adjustments to help get the disc back to its normal position so it can heal. These injuries typically take 6 months to fully heal. You should feel better quickly, but the ligaments that hold the disc in place take longer. READ MORE

Yes. You want to make sure the doctor takes time to know exactly what’s going so they can make proper recommendations to get you better as fast as possible. Without one would be like a doctor recommending a medication without asking questions about your condition. READ MORE

What is the difference between a physical therapist and a chiropractor?
Physical therapists are experts in exercise science and biomechanics of the body. They tend to specialize in musculoskeletal conditions. That’s the short answer, I know there’s a lot more to it. Chiropractors work to keep your brain and nervous system healthy and clear of interferences in their functions. As your brain and nerves control everything in your body, keeping them healthy is essential to healing and a healthy life. Pain is also controlled in the brain. Chiropractors and PTs work great when used together. If you had to choose one, I’m biased, so my first choice will always be with the chiropractor, especially because healing the brain and nerves heals pain. READ MORE
What is it called if your back is out of line?
Chiropractors use to term subluxation. Subluxations block the communication between the brain and body and thus affecting its ability to heal itself. Chiropractors correct subluxations with adjustments on a regular basis. READ MORE

Get to know Chiropractor Dr. Skylar W. Bakko, who serves patients in Centennial, Colorado.
Dr. Bakko is a skilled chiropractor who is the Founder of Baku Chiropractic & Functional Medicine in Centennial, Colorado. Committed to shifting the health paradigm in his community, he has chosen to devote his life to the healing arts with the hope of changing the world, one person’s health at a time.
With the knowledge and expertise to help one heal naturally, he believes that the body is capable of self-healing, self-regulating, and self-maintaining. He uses a combination of unique techniques, advanced technology, and compassionate care to help people of all ages and conditions reach higher health. Along with general chiropractic care, he specializes in brain-based wellness with a focus on thyroid problems.
Born and raised in Marysville, Michigan, it was there that Dr. Bakko initially began receiving regular holistic care at a young age. It was his family chiropractor who inspired him to become a healing practitioner himself.
While he knew he wanted to pursue a career as a natural healer, his decision was solidified when his family chiropractor saved his mother’s life. His mother had been experiencing seemingly random symptoms such as fatigue, weight gain, poor sleep, digestive problems, muscle pain, and hair loss, when their chiropractor detected a potential problem with her thyroid.
Following his recommendation, Dr. Bakko’s mother was checked by her doctor. She was initially diagnosed with an infection. Their chiropractor urged her to get a second opinion. It was then that she was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. Thanks to their family chiropractor, it was detected early enough to cure and to this day, she remains cancer-free.
As he grew older, Dr. Bakko’s passion for natural health grew with him. He has since earned his Doctor of Chiropractic (DC) degree from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa and completed hours of study on Brain-Based Wellness.
Chiropractic is a form of alternative medicine that mainly deals with the diagnosis and treatment of mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system, especially the spine. A chiropractor uses spinal adjustments, manipulation, and other techniques to manage patients’ health concerns, including neck pain and back pain. They aim to improve patients’ functionality and quality of life by properly aligning the body’s musculoskeletal structure and enabling the body to heal itself without the use of medication or surgery.
Outside of the office, Dr. Bakko enjoys spending quality time with his wife, Susana. He also loves to exercise, play the drums, go on hikes, and bowl on Saturday nights.
