Get to know Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Wendy J. Boucher, who serves patients in Presque Isle, Maine. 

An excellent orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Boucher is in practice with Northern Light Orthopedics – Presque Isle in Maine. She has special training and skill in preoperative, operative, and postoperative treatments and diagnostics of musculoskeletal diseases and injuries.

A college athlete herself, both in soccer and alpine skiing, she understands the importance of a healthy athlete. She provides treatment for most general orthopedic conditions as well, including: upper and lower extremities, including hands; arthroscopy and total joint arthroplasty, both knees and shoulders; fracture care; osteoarthritis/osteoporosis; sports Medicine; and pediatric – clubfoot casting, scoliosis, and hip evaluation.

Regarding her educational background, Dr. Boucher graduated with her medical degree from The Robert Larner, M.D. College of Medicine at The University of Vermont in 2001. She then went on to serve her internship and residency in orthopedic surgery at Madigan Army Medical Center, completing her training in 2006. From 2007 until 2008, she was deployed to Iraq. 

Dedicated to surgical excellence, the doctor is board-certified in orthopedic surgery by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (ABOS). The ABOS is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopedic residents and surgeons as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopedic surgeons.

Licensed to practice medicine in Maine, Arkansas, and California, Dr. Boucher is affiliated with Fairbanks Memorial Hospital, Northern Light AR Gould Hospital, Maine Veterans Affairs Medical Center, and Northern Maine Medical Center.

Orthopedic surgery is the branch of surgery concerned with conditions involving the musculoskeletal system. Orthopedic surgeons use both surgical and non-surgical means to treat musculoskeletal trauma, spine diseases, sports injuries, degenerative diseases, infections, tumors, and congenital disorders.

Among Dr. Boucher’s most notable achievements include Patients’ Choice Award (2017, 2018), On-Time Doctor Award (2017, 2018), and Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2017, 2018).

In her personal life, she lives with her daughter, Madison, and her dog, Josie. In her spare time, she enjoys cycling, skiing, kayaking, hiking, golfing, and traveling.
