Dr. Michael P. Ryan is a dedicated second-generation dentist with a deep passion for patient care and family dentistry. Since earning his dental degree in 1991, he has built a thriving practice, now working alongside his son, Dr. Collin Ryan. His commitment to dentistry extends throughout his family, with another son entering dental school and a daughter working as a dental hygienist. Dr. Ryan stays at the forefront of dental advancements, earning Diplomate status in oral implantology and completing extensive training in restorative dentistry, implant surgery, and prosthetics. He has been a CEREC mentor since 2016 and has provided Invisalign treatments for over 20 years. Outside of dentistry, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Elizabeth, their seven children, and four grandchildren.

What do you attribute your success to?
- A proud parent of seven remarkable children, four of whom have chosen to pursue careers in the dental field. Among them, two are training to become dental hygienists, while the other two are on the path to becoming dentists. One of his sons is currently practicing alongside him as a dentist, contributing to their family-oriented practice. He holds board certification in both Illinois and Florida. With over three decades of experience as a dentist in Illinois, he has dedicated the last three years to serving the Sarasota, Florida community. His commitment to dentistry and family values has fostered a thriving practice that emphasizes quality care and professional excellence. The legacy of his career continues through his children, who are following in his footsteps, ensuring that the family tradition of providing exceptional dental services endures.

Dr. Michael P. Ryan began his journey in dentistry after completing his undergraduate studies at Marquette University. He earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Illinois Chicago College of Dentistry in 1991. Following graduation, he joined his father, Dr. Michael J. Ryan, in practice, cultivating a deep passion for dentistry and an unwavering commitment to his patients’ health.
Over the years, Dr. Ryan has continuously advanced his skills through education and training. His dedication to learning has led him to prestigious institutions, including the Atlanta Center for Restorative Dentistry and the Misch Implant Institute, where he completed both surgical and prosthetic courses. His rigorous implantology training at the Misch Resnik Institute from 2019 to 2020 culminated in over 300 hours of study, where he earned a Diplomate of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, the highest credential in oral implantology. As a CEREC mentor since 2016 and an Invisalign-certified practitioner for over two decades, Dr. Ryan remains at the forefront of dental technology, ensuring the highest quality of care for his patients.
Dr. Ryan is also actively involved in several dental associations, including the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the Illinois Dental Association, the Florida Dental Association, the West Coast District Dental Association, and the Sarasota County Dental Association, demonstrating his commitment to professional development and excellence in patient care.
On a personal note, Dr. Ryan has been happily married to his childhood classmate, Elizabeth, for close to 30 years. Together, they have raised seven children, several of whom have also pursued careers in dentistry, making the Ryans a true family practice. Dr. Collin S. Ryan joined Gulf Gate Dental after graduating from Midwestern University School of Dentistry in May 2023, fulfilling his father’s dream of practicing alongside his children. Additionally, the Ryan family includes a daughter who graduated from the dental hygiene program at Ohio State University and currently works as a dental hygienist, another son who is currently in dental school at Marquette University, and a second daughter studying dental hygiene at Ohio State University. Outside of work, Dr. Ryan cherishes his time with his four adorable grandchildren, who bring even more joy to his already close-knit family.
