With his extensive training and years of experience, Dr. Gene performs high quality facial reconstructive and cosmetic surgery to not only improve one’s appearance, but to restore confidence and a sense of normalcy for a wide array of patients. Utilizing cutting-edge techniques and treatments, he is supported by his highly talented staff who provide individualized care to each and every patient.
Experienced in the latest technology and techniques for facial cosmetic and reconstructive surgery, Dr. Gene is an excellent surgeon, teacher, and mentor on the subject. He is an attending at Houston Methodist Hospital, and serves as an Associate Professor with Clinical Distinction in the Department of Plastic Surgery and Otolaryngology of Weill Cornell College of Medicine.
His past academic appointments include Clinical Assistant Professor in the Bobby R. Alford Department of Otorhinolaryngology and Communicative Sciences at Baylor College of Medicine, Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at The Methodist Hospital (part of the Weill Cornell College of Medicine), Assistant Professor at Baylor College of Medicine, and Lecturer at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
With a well-rounded Texas education, Dr. Gene graduated with his Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Science, cum laude, from Texas A&M University. He then went on to earn his medical degree from the Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine at UT Health San Antonio in 1986.
Furthering his training, he performed his internship in general surgery through the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio at Bexar County Hospital District in San Antonio. He then completed his residency within the Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, his fellowship in surgery of the facial nerve, facial reanimation, and endoscopic sinus surgery under Professor Mark May, M.D. in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and a second fellowship in the Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
With over 30+ years of experience, the doctor is double board-certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery & the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
