Get to know Infectious Disease Specialist Dr. Steven L. Shore, who serves patients in Atlanta, Georgia.

Being a board-certified pediatric infectious disease specialist, Dr. Shore specializes in recurring or persistent diseases caused by bacteria, parasites or fungus in infants, children, and adolescents. He is in practice with Sandy Springs Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine, P.C. in Atlanta, Georgia, which encompasses a group of seven pediatricians committed to providing excellent medical care to children for over 50 years. 

A Diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners, the doctor is board-certified in pediatric infectious diseases by the American Board of Pediatrics, which is an independent and nonprofit organization that was founded in 1933. He is also affiliated with Northside Hospital Atlanta and Northside Hospital Forsyth. 

Back in 1967, Dr. Shore earned his medical degree from The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland. He then went on to complete his internship and residency in pediatrics at Boston Children’s Hospital, followed by his fellowship in pediatric infectious disease and immunology at the Emory University School of Medicine.

With years of experience in his field, Dr. Shore is the recipient of numerous awards and honors, including Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2012, 2014), On-Time Doctor Award (2014, 2015), Patients’ Choice Award (2008, 2009, 2012, 2014, 2015), and Castle Connolly Regional Top Doctors.

Infectious disease is a medical specialty dealing with the diagnosis, control, and treatment of infections. An infectious disease specialist’s practice may consist largely of managing nosocomial (hospital-acquired) infections or it may be out-patient based.
