Get to know Vascular Surgeon Dr. Bart A. Chess, who serves patients throughout the State of Pennsylvania.

An extremely knowledgeable and professional vascular surgeon, Dr. Chess is affiliated with McGinnis Thoracic & Cardiovascular Associates, seeing patients in Pittsburgh, Canonsburg, and Natrona Heights, Pennsylvania.

Before embarking on his professional journey, he graduated with his medical degree from the Ohio State University College of Medicine in 1996, and completed his residency in general surgery at the Ohio State University Hospital in 2001. Finally, he completed his fellowship in vascular surgery at the same educational venue in 2002.

A Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), the doctor is board-certified in vascular surgery and general surgery by the American Board of Surgery (ABS). The ABS is an independent, non-profit organization located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, founded for the purpose of certifying surgeons who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge.

Vascular surgery is a surgical subspecialty in which diseases of the vascular system, including the arteries, veins, and lymphatic circulation, are managed by medical therapy, minimally invasive catheter procedures, and surgical reconstruction. A vascular surgeon diagnoses, treats, and manages conditions in the arteries and veins, also called the blood vessels. These specialists treat a range of health problems, from spider and varicose veins to life-threatening aneurysms, and can help patients manage chronic conditions throughout their lives.
