Get to know Obstetrician-Gynecologist Dr. Niraj Patel, who serves patients in Tampa, Florida.

A competent obstetrician-gynecologist, Dr. Patel serves the community of Tampa at Florida Medical Clinic. He is committed to a higher level of medicine, which is individualized for each of his patients. He specializes in women’s health, preventive care, laparoscopic/minimally invasive surgeries, and future education opportunities for newborns.

In times where the doctor-patient relationship is rapidly deteriorating, he brings back the true spirit of medicine by partnering with his patients to bring compassion back to medicine. He understands that each patient is unique and realizes the importance of spending the necessary time to answer patients’ questions and concerns.

A native to the Tampa Bay area, Dr. Patel is a proud graduate of Gaither High School and the University of South Florida. After completing his undergraduate education, he relocated to the Netherlands and graduated with his medical degree from the Saba University School of Medicine. He then returned to the United States and completed his internship and residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Howard University Hospital, followed by an additional residency at the Aurora Sinai Medical Center.

An authority in his field, the doctor is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG). The mission of the ABOG is to define specialty standards, certify obstetricians and gynecologists, and facilitate continuous learning to advance knowledge, practice, and professionalism in women’s health.

Obstetrics and gynecology (OB-GYN) is the medical specialty that encompasses the two subspecialties of obstetrics (covering pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period) and gynecology (covering the health of the female reproductive system – vagina, uterus, ovaries, and breasts).

Among his most notable achievements, Dr. Patel has been the recipient of the Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2018, 2017, 2016, 2015, 2014), Patients’ Choice Award (2018, 2017, 2016, 2015), On-Time Doctor Award (2018, 2017, 2016, 2015), Patients’ Choice 5th Anniversary Award (2020), and Compassionate Doctor Award – 5 Year Honoree (2020).

On a more personal note, he has an active household with three young boys and enjoys spending time with his family. His hobbies include playing football, basketball, weight training and outdoor activities. He loves life, loves his family and loves his patients. A modern day cowboy, he is an experienced horse rider and has a farm where he raises and looks after a herd of Brahma cows. He loves being outdoors and teaching his children how to protect and properly respect the surrounding environment.
