Ensuring a safer, easier journey for the parents, the doctor is dual board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology & reproductive endocrinology and infertility by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, whose mission is to define standards, certify obstetricians and gynecologists, and facilitate continuous learning to advance knowledge, practice, and professionalism in women’s health.
In 1980, Dr. Lavy attended and graduated with his medical degree from The Hebrew University-Hadassah Medical School in Israel. Upon relocating to the United States, he went on to perform his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Yale University School of Medicine in New Haven, Connecticut, where he served on the medical faculty of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Prior to founding New England Fertility in 1991, he was an Assistant Professor in the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology at Yale University School of Medicine for four years, and served as the Director of the Yale program for assisted reproduction.
In addition to being the Medical Director of New England Fertility Institute, Dr. Lavy is a medical staff member in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Stamford Hospital, and a consulting physician in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Greenwich Hospital.
A Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (FACOG), he is a member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, the Society of Reproductive Surgeons, the American Medical Association, the Society for Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, the Fairfield County Medical Association, and the Connecticut State Medical Society.
Reproductive endocrinology and infertility (REI) is a surgical subspecialty of obstetrics and gynecology that trains physicians in reproductive medicine addressing hormonal functioning as it pertains to the reproduction, as well as the issue of infertility. While most REI specialists primarily focus on the treatment of infertility, reproductive endocrinologists are trained to also evaluate and treat hormonal dysfunctions in females and males outside after the reproductive years.
