Get to know Endocrinologist Dr. Samar S. Bursheh, who serves patients throughout the State of New Jersey.

A trusted endocrinologist, Dr. Bursheh is affiliated with SMC Physicians, working with patients at their offices in Ventnor and Galloway, New Jersey. She has a vast knowledge and experience in endocrinology including diabetes mellitus and metabolism, thyroid disorders, adrenal and pituitary disorders, calcium and bone metabolism, and osteoporosis. She is committed to helping people living with diabetes and obesity thrive and is especially passionate about patient education and lifestyle training to help patients achieve their goals.

They specialize in endocrinology, diabetes, weight management, rheumatology, nephrology, hypertension treatments, chiropractic care and more to help patients live a healthier life.

Back in 2004, Dr. Bursheh received her medical degree from the Jordan University of Science and Technology. Upon relocating to the United States, she completed her residency in internal medicine at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, where she also served as Chief Resident. Finally, she completed her fellowship in endocrinology, diabetes & metabolism at the Albert Einstein School of Medicine in New York, with hands-on training in bench and clinical research in diabetes and obesity.

Subsequent to her education, the doctor attained board certification in endocrinology, diabetes & metabolism and internal medicine through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Besides being a member of prestigious societies like the Endocrine Society and the Obesity Medicine Association; she has multiple publications in reputable medical journals. She is also part of the teaching staff in the Atlanticare Regional Medical Center residency program.

Endocrinology is a branch of biology and medicine dealing with the endocrine system, its diseases, and its specific secretions known as hormones. Endocrinologists have the training to diagnose and treat hormone imbalances and problems by helping to restore the normal balance of hormones in the body. The common diseases and disorders of the endocrine system that endocrinologists deal with include diabetes mellitus, as well as adrenal, pituitary, and thyroid disorders, among others.

Among her various accolades, Dr. Bursheh has been the recipient of the Patients' Choice Award (2018, 2017, 2016, 2014), Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2018, 2017), and On-Time Doctor Award (2018).
