Get to know Internist Dr. Don Mathew, who serves patients in Pennsylvania.

A highly trained internist, Dr. Mathew is dedicated to providing the highest level of care to his patients at UPMC East Hospital in Monroeville, Pennsylvania. 

UPMC East Hospital is a state-of-the-art community hospital designed to provide care for their neighbors throughout the communities east of Pittsburgh. It utilizes the latest resources in advanced medical technology, infection control, and patient comfort and safety to provide the highest possible level of patient care.

Back in the early days of his academic career, Dr. Mathew graduated with his medical degree from the University of Kerala in India, and completed a residency at the same educational venue. Upon relocating to the United States, he completed an additional residency in internal medicine at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.

Following his training, the doctor attained board certification in internal medicine through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Committed to continuing his education and staying up to date on the latest medical developments, Dr. Mathew is an active member of the American College of Physicians, the Society of Hospital Medicine, the American Heart Association, and the Obesity Society.

Internal medicine is the medical specialty dealing with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of adult diseases. Physicians specializing in internal medicine are called internists. They manage and prevent common and complex diseases by providing comprehensive care and promoting overall well-being.

On a more personal note, Dr. Mathew is fluent in both English and Malayalam.
