Get to know Dentist Dr. Jo Ellen Gerlach, who serves patients in Louisville, Kentucky.
A trusted dentist, Dr. Gerlach works alongside her husband, Dr. Chip, at their dental practice – Gerlach Family Dentistry – located in Louisville, Kentucky. It is their sincere desire to provide a full range of dental services including cosmetic and esthetic smile enhancement.
The Gerlachs have seen the importance of parental involvement in the lives of children and place a very high value on communication between dentist, parent, and child. They also have seen the wonderful sense of fulfillment that accompanies the growth of a child through the difficult stages of adolescence into adulthood. There is a great sense of pride at Gerlach Family Dentistry because there are so many third and even some fourth generation families that have deep family ties with the office.
Born and raised in Springfield, Ohio, Dr. Gerlach went on to play tennis for the University of Kentucky, graduating in dental hygiene with a Bachelor of Science degree. She then went on to attend the University of Louisville School of Dentistry where she met and married Dr. Chip, graduating in 1982.
A professional member of the American Dental Association, she attributes her success to being surrounded by family and friends, and her faith in God.
Dentistry, also known as Dental and Oral Medicine, is a branch of medicine that consists of the study, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases, disorders, and conditions of the oral cavity. Dentists diagnose and treat dental issues and help patients develop better oral hygiene regimens. They clean teeth, correct bite issues, perform surgeries, create beautiful smiles, and perform other duties to ensure that the teeth and mouth are healthy.
Happily married for over three decades, Dr. Gerlach and her husband, Dr. Chip, have four children together. Throughout their family life, their children and family have been areas of intense focus as they took care of scholastic responsibilities, developed a spiritual relationship with God, participated in youth, high school, and collegiate sports, and built friendships with neighbors, patients, and acquaintances.
