Get to know Pulmonologist Dr. David Romero-Fischmann, who serves patients throughout the State of Florida.

A prominent pulmonologist, Dr. Romero-Fischmann is affiliated with Baptist Health South Florida, seeing patients at the Baptist Hospital of Miami and West Kendall Baptist Hospital. He can also be found on staff at Kendall Regional Medical Center.

Baptist Hospital of Miami is the flagship facility of Baptist Health South Florida and one of America's most preferred medical centers. Three Centers of Excellence are housed on Baptist Hospital's campus: Miami Cancer Institute, Miami Cardiac & Vascular Institute and Miami Neuroscience Institute.

West Kendall Baptist Hospital opened to the public in April 2011 as Miami-Dade County’s first brand-new hospital in more than 35 years. It is part of Baptist Health South Florida, the largest faith-based, not-for-profit healthcare organization in the region. It features 133 private rooms and provides care for adult medical and surgical services, including a separate critical care unit.

Throughout his academic career, Dr. Romero-Fischmann earned his medical degree from the Universidad San Francisco Xavier de Chuquisaca Facultad de Medicina in Bolivia in 1990. Upon relocating to the United States, he completed his residency in internal medicine at the Mount Sinai Medical Center of Florida in 1999. He then went on to complete his fellowship in pulmonary disease and critical care medicine at the University of Miami / Jackson Memorial Hospital in 2003, before returning to Mount Sinai to complete his fellowship in sleep medicine in 2004.

An expert in his field, the doctor is board-certified in pulmonary disease, critical care medicine, and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Pulmonology is a medical specialty that deals with diseases involving the respiratory tract. A pulmonologist is an internal medicine physician who specializes in preventing, diagnosing, and treating conditions and diseases that affect the lungs, bronchial tubes, and the respiratory system, including the nose, pharynx, and throat.
