Get to know Nephrologist Dr. Aamir Iqbal, who serves patients throughout the State of Tennessee.

A dedicated nephrologist, Dr. Iqbal is affiliated with Nephrology Associates. He specializes in the care and treatment of the kidney, treating conditions such as kidney stones, chronic kidney disease, acute renal failure, polycystic kidney disease, high blood pressure and more.

With offices in Chattanooga, Ooltewah and Cleveland, Nephrology Associates is committed to providing quality care in a convenient and friendly environment. Its physicians are all board-certified and lead a team of over 80 clinical, technical and administrative personnel. The practice offers a full spectrum of kidney services, from patient education in early disease state to pre-emptive transplantation and dialysis in those with advanced afflictions.

A Pakistan native, Dr. Iqbal earned his medical degree from the King Edward Medical University in Lahore. After relocating to the United States, he completed his residency in internal medicine at the Nassau University Medical Center, and his fellowship in nephrology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.

A Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP), the doctor is board-certified in nephrology and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Licensed to practice medicine in Tennessee, Georgia, Arizona, North Carolina, and California, Dr. Iqbal can be found on staff at Carolinas Healthcare System Cleveland, Cleveland Regional Medical Center, and Rutherford Regional Medical Center.

Nephrology is a specialty of medicine and pediatrics that concerns itself with the kidneys. It is the study of normal kidney function and kidney disease, the preservation of kidney health, and the treatment of kidney disease, from diet and medication to renal replacement therapy. Nephrologists have advanced training in treating kidney disease. They diagnose and treat kidney failure, as well as help patients by prescribing medications, offering special diet advice, and coordinating dialysis care or kidney transplantation when it becomes necessary.

Throughout his career, Dr. Iqbal has received numerous awards such as the Patients’ Choice Award (2016, 2018), On-Time Doctor Award (2016, 2018), and Top 10 Doctor – State (2014).
