Dr. Buckingham is an accomplished ophthalmologist specializing in oculoplastic reconstructive and cosmetic surgery at Eye Physicians of Austin located in North Central, Austin, Texas. She is an expert in the reconstruction and correction of eyelids, eyebrows, and tear ducts. 

Eye Physicians of Austin has been providing the highest quality of advanced eye care for adult and pediatric patients since 1963. The practice’s team of highly-trained physicians offer the latest medical and cosmetic eye surgeries and non-invasive treatments, utilizing the most sophisticated, cutting-edge technologies available today. She is also a member of many medical associations, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Texas Medical Association.

In regards to her educational background, Dr. Buckingham earned her medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch Galveston – School of Medicine in 1997, where she also completed her residency in ophthalmology. She then went on to complete her fellowship in oculoplastic and reconstructive surgery at Albany Medical Center in New York. 

To this day, she continues to hone her skills by learning new techniques and exploring new technology as it is made available. Currently, she is serving the citizens of Texas as the Texas State Senator for District 24. 

Since her election, she has focused her attention on improving public education, keeping taxes low, strengthening border security, and defending life. Her commitment to service and recognition for her work has allowed her to hold leadership positions in local, state, and national organizations.

Ophthalmology is a branch of medicine and surgery, which deals with the diagnosis and treatment of eye disorders. Ophthalmologists are experts in the diseases, functions, and anatomy of the eye. They may provide routine care such as vision testing, as well as prescribe and fit eyeglasses or contact lenses. However, ophthalmologists are also surgeons. They repair traumatic injuries to the eye and perform cataract, glaucoma, and corneal surgery.

In her personal life, Dr. Buckingham is an avid hunter and outdoorswoman. She is married to Ed Buckingham, a practicing physician. They have two children.
