Get to know General Physician Dr. Ivan Torres Silva, who serves patients in Vega Baja, Puerto Rico.

Dr. Silva is a responsible, teamwork-oriented general physician with excellent professional and interpersonal skills. 

Since July of 2004, he has been working at Ciales Primary Health Care Services, Inc. in Vega Baja, Puerto Rico. He is responsible for medical evaluation, diagnosis and acute medical treatment of patients in the emergency room setting, and therapeutic decisions for the ones seen in an ambulatory medical setting.

In regards to his educational background, Dr. Silva graduated with his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Puerto Rico in 1997. He then relocated to Mexico, graduating with his medical degree from the Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara School of Medicine in 2005.

Holding a medical license to practice in Puerto Rico, Dr. Silva applies his knowledge and skills to continue growing in the field of medicine. 

Aside from his work with Ciales Primary Health Care Services, Inc., he is an emergency room physician with Prymed Medical Care. Inc., and serves as a medical officer for the National Disaster Medical System.

In the medical profession, a general practitioner (GP) or family physician is a physician who treats acute and chronic illnesses and provides preventive care and health education to patients of all ages. GPs’ duties are not confined to specific fields of medicine, and they have particular skills in treating people with multiple health issues. They are trained to treat patients to levels of complexity that vary between countries. 

On a more personal note, Dr. Silva is fluent in English and Spanish.
