A board-certified allergist & immunologist with over 15 years of experience in his field, Dr. Riester is affiliated with Northeast Allergy, Asthma & Immunology, serving patients at their Sudbury and Stoneham offices. He sees patients of all ages, evaluating a wide variety of allergic conditions including: asthma and bronchial asthma, nasal polyps, eczema, food allergies, recurrent sinus infections, allergic rhinitis, penicillin allergy, environmental allergies, animal allergies, chronic cough, eosinophilic esophagitis and bee sting allergies.
Northeast Allergy, Asthma & Immunology provides the full range of allergy, asthma and immunology treatments for both adults and children to help improve their patients’ quality of life. Their team focuses on diagnosing and treating allergies, respiratory conditions associated with asthma, and primary immunodeficiency disease. They provide testing and treatment of the complete allergy spectrum, including environmental, foods, insects, and medications.
After receiving his Bachelor of Arts degree from Colgate University, Dr. Riester graduated medical school from The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and went on to do his residency in pediatrics at Rhode Island Hospital (Hasbro Children’s Hospital) at Brown University. He then went on to complete his fellowship in allergy and immunology at Duke University Medical Center, where as a fellow he presented data on Stem Cell Bone Marrow Transplants in patients with Severe Combined Immunodeficiency Syndrome at the American Academy of Allergy Asthma and Immunology.
Subsequent to his education, the doctor attained board certification in allergy & immunology by the American Board of Allergy and Immunology (ABAI). The mission of the ABAI is to improve the quality of medical care by the development and utilization of professional and educational standards for the initial certification and maintenance of certification of physician specialists in allergy and immunology.
Achieving fellowship status, he is a Fellow of the American Academy of Allergy Asthma and Immunology (FAAAAI), and a Fellow of the American College of Allergy Asthma and Immunology (FACAAI), as well as a member of the New England Society of Allergy, and the Massachusetts Allergy and Asthma Society.
After completing his fellowship, Dr. Riester served as a Clinical Instructor in Medicine in the Allergy Department at Dartmouth University Medical Center. He was formerly a Clinical Instructor in Internal Medicine at Tufts University Medical Center at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center, where he regularly taught residents rotating through the Department of Allergy. He has also co authored research presented at national allergy meetings on Aspirin allergy as well as stinging insect allergy.
