Dr. Estrada is a board-certified internist who is currently serving patients in the State of Florida. He has experience performing multiple procedures, including fiberoptic sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy with biopsy and polypectomy, upper endoscopy, laryngoscopy, and more. Throughout his extensive career, he has held several roles.
After being in private practice for 25 years, Dr. Estrada retired in May of 2000. He worked at Continucare Medical Centers Westchester in Olympia Heights, Florida from November 2013 until July 2017. Most recently, he worked at IMC Health Medical Centers – Miami Lakes for a period of 3 months from September until November 2018.
He held hospital privileges at Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren, Ohio from 1976 until 2000, as well as served as an Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana from 1975 until 1976. What’s more, he served as Medical Director at Leon Medical Centers in Doral, Florida in 2005. There, he helped to implement guidelines of necessity for admissions in different medical conditions, better communication among the staff, better utilization of medications, and more.
In 1970, Dr. Estrada earned his medical degree from the Complutense University of Madrid in Spain. He went on to complete his postgraduate training at Trumbull Memorial Hospital, where he served as special assistant of surgery and completed a rotating internship. He also completed his general practice residency at Trumbull Memorial Hospital in 1973, followed by a residency in internal medicine at Veterans Affairs Hospital in New Orleans in 1976.
In regards to his military service, Dr. Estrada served as a Major in the Medical Corps of the United States Air Force Reserve (Tactic Reserve Squadron Unit) in Youngstown, Ohio from from 1980 until 1982.
After becoming board-certified in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM), he gained membership with the American College of Physicians (ACP). He was elected Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP) in 2016. Fellowship is a mark of distinction representing the pinnacle of integrity, professionalism, and scholarship.
Additionally, Dr. Estrada was a member of the Ohio State Medical Association and the Trumbull County Medical Society. He served as Secretary-Treasurer for the Trumbull County Medical Society in 1992, and as President of the Society in 1994. As President, he started education for the community on important topics such as diabetes, hypertension, eye complications in diabetic patients, blood sugar, blood pressure, and more.
