Get to know Internist Dr. Nandakumar B. Vellanki, who serves patients in Columbia, Maryland. 

Dr. Vellanki is an adept internist who has been in practice for over five decades. He is in practice with Padder Health Services, LLC in Columbia, Maryland.

Having practiced medicine in various hospitals in the United Kingdom before coming to the United States, he is currently affiliated with Howard County General Hospital, Carroll Hospital Center, and Northwest Hospital.

In regards to his educational background, Dr. Vellanki graduated with his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery degree from Andhra Medical College in India in 1974. After relocating to the United States, he completed his residency in internal medicine at UM Prince George’s Hospital Center in Maryland in 1985. 

Following his training, he attained board certification in internal medicine through the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM). The ABFM is a non-profit, independent medical association of American physicians who practice in family medicine and its sub-specialties.

Internal medicine is the medical specialty dealing with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of adult diseases. Physicians specializing in internal medicine are called internists. They manage and prevent common and complex diseases by providing comprehensive care and promoting overall well-being.
