Get to know Family Physician Dr. Alexandra C. Caracitas, who serves patients in Garwood and Summit, New Jersey.

Dr. Caracitas is a dedicated family physician specializing in comprehensive health care for people of all ages. She is in practice with Union County Healthcare Associates, seeing patients at the offices in Garwood and Summit, New Jersey.

At the start of her academic career, Dr. Caracitas graduated with her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine in 2000. She then went on to serve her residency in family medicine at Virtua Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in 2003. 

That same year, she attained board certification in family practice and osteopathic manipulative treatment through the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians (AOBFP). The AOBFP is an organization that provides board certification to qualified osteopathic physicians who specialize in delivering comprehensive primary care for patients of all ages, genders, and addressing all parts of the body.

An active member of the American Osteopathic Association, Dr. Caracitas is affiliated with Raritan Bay Medical Center & Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. 

Family medicine is a medical specialty devoted to comprehensive health care for people of all ages. The specialist is called a family physician or family doctor. A family physician is often the first person a patient sees when seeking healthcare services.
