Get to know Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Michael W. Bowman, who serves patients in Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania.

Dr. Bowman is a trusted, board-certified orthopedic surgeon who provides state-of-the-art care for disorders of the elbow, wrist, hand, foot, and ankle. He is the Owner of Pittsburgh Foot and Hand Center in Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania. 

Since 2004, Pittsburgh Foot and Hand Center has provided consistent, specialized, and state-of-the-art orthopedic care to the Pittsburgh area. From professional sports injuries to work-related injuries, and from children with congenital deformities to elderly individuals with arthritis, the practice treats a broad spectrum of patients and health issues alike. Most importantly, care is available to patients from a wide variety of backgrounds.

For well over three decades, Dr. Bowman has provided the latest in both nonsurgical and surgical orthopedic treatment to a wide variety of patients that include Olympic, professional, collegiate and high school athletes, Fortune 500 CEOs, United States Secretaries, fellow orthopedic surgeons, other physicians and their families, as well as many healthcare professionals. 

A 1980 graduate of the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, he went on to complete his residency in general surgery at the University Health Center of Pittsburgh in 1982, followed by his residency in orthopedic surgery at the same educational venue in 1985. From there, he completed his fellowship in hand surgery at the Hand Rehabilitation Center in Philadelphia in 1986, followed by his fellowship in foot & ankle surgery at the Foot Treatment Center/Orthopedic Hospital in Los Angeles, California in 1987. 

A Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, the doctor is board-certified in orthopedic surgery and hand surgery by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (ABOS). The ABOS is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopedic residents and surgeons, as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopedic surgeons.

Among his professional affiliations, Dr. Bowman is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the American Medical Association, the American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Society, the American College of Sports Medicine, the AO Alumni Association, the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, the American Association of Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Surgeons, the Clinical Orthopedic Society, The Orthopedic Foot Club, the Pennsylvania Orthopedic Society, the Pennsylvania Medical Society, the Interstate Orthopedic Society, the Jefferson Hand Club, the Eastern Orthopedic Society, the Allegheny County Medical Society, the University of Pittsburgh Orthopedic Alumni Association, and the Pittsburgh Hand Club. 

Additionally, he serves as a Clinical Advisory Board Member for Scandius®, Inc., a Clinical Assistant Professor within the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, a Reviewer for the Journal of the American Association of Orthopedic Surgeons, as well as an Associate Editor for Foot and Ankle International.

Orthopedic surgery is the branch of surgery concerned with conditions involving the musculoskeletal system. Orthopedic surgeons use both surgical and nonsurgical means to treat musculoskeletal trauma, spine diseases, sports injuries, degenerative diseases, infections, tumors, and congenital disorders. They work in clinical and hospital settings.
