Back in the early days of his academic career, Dr. Ruggeri graduated with his medical degree from SUNY Downstate College of Medicine in 1975. As for his postgraduate training, he completed his internship in general surgery at Rhode Island Hospital in 1976, his residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital in 1980, and his fellowship in hand surgery at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital in 1980.
With a commitment to excellence, the doctor is board-certified in orthopedic surgery and surgery of the hand by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (ABOS). The ABOS is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopedic residents and surgeons as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopedic surgeons.
Maintaining fellowship status, Dr. Ruggeri is a Fellow of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand (FASSH) and a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (FAAOS).
Additionally, he is a member of the Arizona Medical Association and the Maricopa County Medical Society.
Over the years, Dr. Ruggeri has taught medical assistants, physician assistants, medical students, orthopedic residents, and hand fellows. His manifold duties include reconstruction of the hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder. He hopes to develop advanced products and techniques in the fields of orthopedics and hand surgery with the help of the medical industry.
