Get to know Anesthesiologist Dr. Katherine Thomas, who serves patients in Texas.

A prominent anesthesiologist, Dr. Thomas is affiliated with US Anesthesia Partners of Texas (North). She can also be found on staff at Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital, and Texas Health Heart & Vascular Arlington.

Formerly Pinnacle Anesthesia Consultants, US Anesthesia Partners of Texas (North) has been known as the premier anesthesia group in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. For over 20 years, they have provided top-notch care to patients in the communities they serve, building strong relationships both internally and externally. 

In North Texas, USAP provides service to over 600,000 patients at over 150 facilities each year. They provide service for all types of routine surgical procedures as well as such specialty areas as cardiovascular, obstetrical, neurosurgery, pediatrics, trauma, and endoscopic anesthesia.

Before embarking on her professional journey, Dr. Thomas graduated with her medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine in 2007. She then went on to complete her residency in anesthesiology and her fellowship in adult cardiothoracic anesthesiology at the UT Southwestern Medical Center in 2011 and 2012, respectively.

Subsequent to her education, the doctor attained board certification in anesthesiology through the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA). As the certifying body for anesthesiologists since 1938, the ABA is committed to partnering with physicians to advance lifelong learning and exceptional patient care. Its mission is to advance the highest standards of the practice of anesthesiology.

Anesthesiology is the medical specialty concerned with the total perioperative care of patients before, during, and after surgery. It encompasses anesthesia, intensive care medicine, critical emergency medicine, and pain medicine. Anesthesiologists have the primary responsibility of monitoring the patient’s vital signs during surgery. In addition to basic measurements such as pulse, blood pressure, and temperature, they measure the patient’s respiration.
