Get to know Hematologist and Oncologist Dr. Patrick A. Cross, who serves the population of Maryland. Dr. Cross graduated from Howard University College of Medicine with his Medical Degree in 1988, giving him over three decades of experience in his field. After obtaining his Medical Degree he then completed his Internal Medicine internship with Mount Sinai Medical Center followed by his Internal Medicine residency with Howard University Hospital. Wanting to further his training he then completed his Medical Oncology and Hematology fellowship with MedStar Washington Hospital Center. He is dual certified in Medical Oncology and Hematology from the American Board of Internal Medicine. Dr. Cross currently practices with Greater Washington Oncology Associates, he is also affiliated with Doctors Community Hospital, Medstar Washington Hospital Center, and Prince George’s Hospital Center. A hematologist-oncologist who is a physician who specializes in the diagnosis, treatment and/or prevention of blood diseases and cancers such as iron-deficiency anemia, hemophilia, sickle-cell disease, leukemia and lymphoma. They will be trained in hematology, the study of blood and oncology, the study of cancer, but will specialize in treating blood cancers, such as Hodgkins and non-Hodgkins lymphomas, leukemias and multiple myelomas. A hematologist-oncologist may also specialize in the management of solid tumors.
