Get to know Anesthesiologist Dr. Craig B. Chun, who serves patients in Honolulu, Hawaii.

An adept anesthesiologist, Dr. Chun manages patient pain levels before, during, and after surgical procedures. He is currently affiliated with The Queen’s Medical Center.

The Queen’s Medical Center, originally named and still commonly referred to as Queen’s Hospital, is the largest private non-profit hospital in Honolulu, Hawaii. The institution was founded in 1859 by Queen Emma and King Kamehameha IV, and is located in Downtown Honolulu.

At the start of his academic career, Dr. Chun earned his medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine in 1991. He then went on to perform his internship in internal medicine at San Francisco Medical Center | Kaiser Permanente, and his residency in anesthesiology at the University of California, Irvine Medical Center.

Licensed to practice medicine in California and Hawaii, the doctor is board-certified in anesthesiology by the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA). As the certifying body for anesthesiologists since 1938, the ABA is committed to partnering with physicians to advance lifelong learning and exceptional patient care. Its mission is to advance the highest standards of the practice of anesthesiology.

Anesthesiology is the medical specialty concerned with the total perioperative care of patients before, during, and after surgery. It encompasses anesthesia, intensive care medicine, critical emergency medicine, and pain medicine. Anesthesiologists have the primary responsibility of monitoring the patient’s vital signs during surgery. In addition to basic measurements such as pulse, blood pressure, and temperature, they measure the patient’s respiration.
