Get to know Dermatologist Dr. Vivek Iyengar, who serves patients in Tinley Park, Illinois.

Dr. Iyengar is a board-certified dermatologist and fellowship-trained Mohs surgeon who specializes in skin cancer management and reconstructive surgery. He started his practice, Dermatology Associates, in 2003.

He completed his residency in dermatology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas where he served as chief resident.

Thereafter, he had a unique fellowship training experience in completing a Mohs, laser, and cosmetic surgery fellowship in Boston, Massachusetts under the direction of faculty from Boston, Yale, Dartmouth, and Harvard Universities.

With a commitment to patient comfort, the doctor is board-certified in dermatology by the American Board of Dermatology (ABD). The ABD is a voluntary, non-profit, private, autonomous organization formed for the primary purpose of protecting the public interest by establishing and maintaining high standards of training, education, and qualifications of physicians rendering care in dermatology. 

Alongside his clinical role, Dr. Iyengar serves as a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Chicago, Section of Dermatology.

Among his professional affiliations, he is a member of the American Society of Dermatological Surgery, the American College of Mohs Surgery, and the American Academy of Dermatology.

Dermatology is the branch of medicine dealing with the skin. The skin is the largest organ of the body. Dermatology is a specialty with both medical and surgical aspects. A dermatologist is a specialist doctor who manages skin diseases and deals with both internal and external causes and some cosmetic concerns involving the skin. Dermatological duties include taking consultations, providing screening tests, and undertaking non-invasive surgical procedures.

An authority in his field, Dr. Iyengar has lectured nationally and published numerous journal articles and book chapters in the fields of Mohs, laser surgery, and cosmetic surgery. He is also the recipient of Patients’ Choice Award (2008, 2009, 2011), On-Time Doctor Award (2009), and Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2009, 2011).
