A pioneer in the field of spine surgery, Dr. Hyder specializes in physical therapy, pain management and minimally invasive surgery. He treats conditions such as neck pain, cervical spinal stenosis, pinched nerves, sciatica, spinal instability, lumbar scoliosis, and lumbar spinal stenosis.

At NWI Spine Institute, Dr. Hyder and his team believe that the majority of spine issues can be resolved without surgery, through non-invasive treatments like physical therapy and pain management. If surgery is required, Dr. Hyder’s minimally invasive TrueMIS approach allows most patients to go home the same day. TrueMIS is a minimally invasive, muscle-sparing surgical technique that minimizes blood loss while allowing for faster surgeries and quicker recovery times. By avoiding a midline incision along the spine, TrueMIS protects the multifidus muscle, one of the major stabilizers in the back. 

Dr. Hyder performs every procedure with the same hand-picked surgical team of seven experienced professionals. Fully trained in TrueMIS, this team operates with precision and efficiency—all with the goal of improving patient outcomes.

Renowned for his skill in helping patients return to life before their back and neck pain, he is affiliated with many top hospitals, including Advocate Christ Hospital, Northwestern Memorial Hospital, University of Chicago’s Weiss Memorial Hospital, Methodist Hospital Southlake, Pinnacle Hospital, and St. Mary Medical Center.

Graduating Cum Laude from the University of Illinois, Dr. Hyder started his career in medicine by receiving his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Midwestern University. He then went on to complete his residency in orthopedic surgery at Midwestern University, and his fellowship in orthopedic spine surgery at the Texas Back Institute in Plano.

Licensed to practice medicine in Indiana and Illinois, the doctor is board-certified in orthopedic surgery by the American Osteopathic Board of Orthopedic Surgery (AOBOS). The AOBOS is an organization that provides board certification to qualified Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine who specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of disorders of the musculoskeletal system.

Orthopedic surgery is the branch of surgery concerned with conditions involving the musculoskeletal system. Orthopedic surgeons use both surgical and non-surgical means to treat musculoskeletal trauma, spine diseases, sports injuries, degenerative diseases, infections, tumors, and congenital disorders.

It is Dr. Hyder’s passion for progress that has led him to seek constant improvements in his surgical techniques and in patient care. He lectures at events nationally and internationally, sharing his TrueMIS techniques with fellow surgeons and leaders in the orthopedics field. His hands-on teaching, through labs and observation of live surgery, works to advance spine surgery and bring minimally invasive options to patients around the world. 

As both a physician and an educator, he works to further patient health by participating in studies that can offer patients even more pain relief options.
