Dr. Onyemeze is a pediatric emergency physician who is affiliated with the Emergency Department at Banner Desert Medical Center in Mesa, Arizona. Dr. Onyemeze earned his medical degree from the University of Nigeria College of Medicine in 1981. He then went on to complete his residency in pediatrics at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, followed by his fellowship in pediatric emergency medicine at the University at Buffalo.

Dr. Onyemeze is board-certified in pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP). Founded in 1933, the ABP is one of the 24 certifying boards of the American Board of Medical Specialties. The ABP is an independent, nonprofit organization whose certificate is recognized throughout the world as a credential signifying a high level of physician competence.  

Pediatric emergency medicine is a medical subspecialty of both pediatrics and emergency medicine. A pediatric emergency physician, like Dr. Onyemeze, is a specialist in the care of children and teens who are acutely ill or injured. They are trained to care for a wide range of problems that require immediate medical help. These problems are often serious and may be life-threatening. Pediatric emergency physicians generally practice in hospital emergency departments.
