Get to know Cardiologist Dr. Lorena Doctor, who serves patients in Ocilla, Georgia.

A trusted cardiologist, Dr. Doctor is affiliated with Advent Care Systems, which is a multi-specialty clinic in Ocilla, Georgia providing comprehensive and compassionate care.

Back in the early days of her academic career, she completed her medical education and residency in internal medicine at the Wayne State University School of Medicine in 1997 and 2000, respectively. She then went on to complete her fellowship in cardiovascular disease with The MetroHealth System in 2006, and her fellowship in clinical cardiac electrophysiology at Drexel University College of Medicine in 2008.

Subsequent to his education, the doctor attained board certification in cardiovascular disease, cardiac electrophysiology, and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Cardiology is a branch of medicine that deals with the disorders of the heart, as well as some parts of the circulatory system. The field includes medical diagnosis and treatment of congenital heart defects, coronary artery disease, heart failure, valvular heart disease, and electrophysiology. Cardiologists are doctors who diagnose, assess, and treat patients with diseases and defects of the heart and blood vessels (the cardiovascular system).
