Get to know Cardiologist Dr. John A. Puleo, who serves patients in Sarasota, Florida.

Dr. Puleo, a top board-certified and fellowship-trained cardiologist, has over three decades of experience in his field. He can be found on staff at Doctors Hospital of Sarasota in Florida.

A 1990 graduate of the Georgetown University School of Medicine, Dr. Puleo went on to complete his residency at the University of Rochester Medical Center. This was followed by a fellowship at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine. 

In addition to being a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and a member of the Sarasota County Medical Society, the doctor is board-certified in both internal medicine and cardiovascular disease by the American Board of Internal Medicine, which is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world. 

Cardiology is a branch of medicine that deals with the disorders of the heart, as well as some parts of the circulatory system. The field includes medical diagnosis and treatment of congenital heart defects, coronary artery disease, heart failure, valvular heart disease, and electrophysiology. Cardiologists are doctors who diagnose, assess, and treat patients with diseases and defects of the heart and blood vessels (the cardiovascular system).
