Dr. Chau is an experienced board-certified orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in total joint replacement, sports injury surgeries, as well as general orthopaedic problems. He is currently serving patients at his private practice – Arthur Fitzgerald Chau M.D. P.A.- in Sugar Land, Texas.

With more than two decades of experience, the doctor has provided his services at several establishments throughout the Houston area and the state of Ohio, including Westside Orthopaedic from 1996 until 2005, Greater Houston Orthopaedic from 2005 until 2006, Fondren Orthopaedic from 2006 until 2018, and Ohio State University from 2018 until 2019. 

A 1989 graduate of the Louisiana State University School of Medicine, Dr. Chau completed his internship and residency in orthopaedic surgery at the Louisiana State University in 1990 and 1992, respectively. He then went on to complete his residency in orthopaedic surgery at the University of Virginia in 1995, followed by his fellowship in total joint reconstruction at the Cleveland Clinic in 1996. 

A Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (FAAOS), he is board-certified in orthopaedic surgery by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, which is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopaedic residents and surgeons, as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopaedic surgeons. After completing his fellowship training in the Ilizarov Technique in Lecco, Italy, he conducted a presentation on the ‘Treatment of Pilon Fractures with the Ilizarov Technique’ at the AAOS Annual Meeting. 

Orthopaedic surgery is the branch of surgery concerned with conditions involving the musculoskeletal system. Orthopaedic surgeons use both surgical and nonsurgical means to treat musculoskeletal trauma, spine diseases, sports injuries, degenerative diseases, infections, tumors, and congenital disorders. They work in clinical and hospital settings.

Throughout Dr. Chau’s extensive career, he has been honored with several awards and recognitions, including ‘Doctor in the Leading Role of Best Overall Documentation’ awarded by Memorial Hermann – Sugar Land in 2007, ‘Most Responsive’ awarded by Memorial Hermann – Sugar Land in 2008, and ‘Best Communicator’ awarded by Memorial Hermann – Sugar Land in 2011. He was also named ‘Top Orthopaedic Surgeon’ by Top Doc in 2020 & Top Orthopaedic Surgeon in Sugar Land by The Leading physicians of The World in 2020.
