  • Foot neuropathy?

Hello! So sorry to hear that youre in so much pain. The medications that you are taking are heavy duty pain medications. There are some medications that are more geared for nerve pain Such as gabapentin or Lyrica. I would talk to your doctor to see if maybe you could switch to something that Is to treat nerve pain. Theres also some other forms of treatment like topical gabapentin that my patients do really well with as well. The latest technology that I use in my office is called the MLS laser treatment that helps with neuropathy as well. I would look up this Laser and see who has it around your area. Also, another option is to see a Pain Specialist that could do a stimulator that targets the lower extremity nerves to relieve pain as well. Hope this helps! Dr. Souliotis READ MORE

  • Wrong orthotics?

Im sorry to hear about your knee pain. I really doubt that your knee pain will be a permanent damage from your orthotics. Whenever we have patients start wearing new orthotics we have them do a break in process. This means you are wearing them for several hours the first day and increase the hours as the days go by Did you do this break in process? I tell my patient that new pain is normal when they start wearing a new Orthotic, but usually by the third and fourth week that should be completely gone. First I would make sure that you break in your new Orthotics and second I will make sure that you dont have any other issues that would be causing the pain. I hope this helps! READ MORE

  • How can I treat ankle swelling?

Swelling can be due to many different causes. If you have generalized swelling to both legs that could be from a systemic condition which would need a work up. Treatment would be dependent on the condition. Example if it’s due to a heart issue or diabetes you would need to make sure this is treated by your PCP. Things you could do is make sure you’re elevating your legs when sitting for long periods of time. You can wear compression stockings. These could be a little uncomfortable make sure you put them on at the beginning of your day, it’s easier to put on. Also make sure your salt intake is low in your diet. Hope this helps! READ MORE

  • What are the treatment options for hammertoes?

Non surgical options are wide toe box shoes to accommodate the toes. There are toe splints to avoid rubbing of the toes with the shoes. Inserts are also helpful to slow down the process of the deformity. Surgery is an option if everything fails to give relief. New technology has allowed patients to recover much faster. READ MORE
