Dr. James Edlund is a highly respected physician with over 52 years of medical experience, recognized for his expertise in colorectal surgery, wound care, and medical leadership. After completing his medical degree at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, he went on to residency training at Blodgett Memorial Medical Center in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and later earned fellowships with both the American College of Surgeons and the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons. For 37 years, Dr. Edlund practiced as a colorectal surgeon, earning a reputation for his clinical skill, compassionate care, and dedication to advancing surgical practice. Even after retiring from surgery, he continued to make an impact in medicine by serving as Medical Director of the Parkview Center for Wound Healing, where he applied his expertise to complex wound management. He also serves as Medical Director of Informatics, helping to guide innovation and integration of technology into clinical practice. Throughout his career, Dr. Edlund has been deeply committed to education. As part of Parkview’s teaching health system, he works closely with residents, sharing decades of experience and shaping the next generation of physicians. In the past, he taught Advanced Trauma Life Support, further demonstrating his commitment to training healthcare professionals in lifesaving care. Dr. Edlund has also held significant leadership roles, including serving as Past President of Parkview Health and as a member of its Board of Directors. His professional memberships include the Indiana State Medical Association, the American Medical Association, the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, and the American College of Physician Executives. His enduring career reflects not only clinical excellence but also a lifelong dedication to advancing patient care, mentoring physicians, and strengthening the healthcare system.
