Get to know Hyperbaric PhysicianDr. Daphne W. Denham, who serves patients in Illinois.
Dr. Denham is a board-certified Hyperbaric Physician with expertise in wound care and hyperbaric medicine. Seeing a unique perspective on the potential benefits of oxygen therapy, she opened Healing with Hyperbarics of North Dakota, PLLC in July of 2018.
Healing with Hyperbarics of North Dakota, PLLC is a private practice, free standing hyperbaric center located in Fargo, North Dakota. Its goal is to provide hyperbaric oxygen treatments at affordable rates to demonstrate the possibilities of therapy with pure oxygen.
It was when her sixth child was young that Dr. Denham became interested in wound care and hyperbaric medicine. Watching her children in their various sports and knowing the timing and cascade of concussive injury, while seeing what hyperbaric oxygen does for swelling, inflammation and tissue damage, she took an aggressive approach.
In the summer of 2018, she expanded her Northbrook, Illinois based clinic (Comprehensive Wound Care, LLC) to Fargo because she was given an opportunity to provide greater objective data demonstrating how well her protocol works. Through Healing with Hyperbarics of North Dakota, PLLC, she hopes to change the dialogue for concussions from management to treatment.
Dedicated to advancing hyperbaric medicine around the world, Dr. Denham is on the Board of Directors of Hyperbaric Medicine International. The mission of Hyperbaric Medicine International is to establish hyperbaric oxygen therapy as the standard of care for a broad array of medical conditions and wellness worldwide; certify medical professionals, treatments, and facilities to assure hyperbaric oxygen therapy is delivered under high medical standards; facilitate availability of treatment to all those in need; and develop advocacy groups to inform policy decisions.
Back in the early days of her academic career, Dr. Denham obtained her medical degree from the University of Louisville School of Medicine in 1993. She then went on to complete her residency in general surgery at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine.
A Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, she is board-certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery, an independent, non-profit organization located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, founded for the purpose of certifying surgeons who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge.
Demonstrating her extensive knowledge and passion for the art of wound care, Dr. Denham is also a Diplomate of the American College of Wound Medicine and Surgery.
General surgery is a surgical specialty that focuses on abdominal contents including the esophagus, stomach, small bowel, colon, liver, pancreas, gallbladder, appendix and bile ducts, and often the thyroid gland. A general surgeon performs a wide range of abdominal surgeries for many forms of intestinal and abdominal wall neoplasms, gallbladder disease, gastric and pancreatic disease. They follow the patient through critical care and surgical recovery all the way to outpatient care.
An expert in her field, Dr. Denham is the recipient of Patients’ Choice Award (2014, 2015, 2017, 2018) and On-Time Doctor Award (2015, 2017, 2018).
On a more personal note, she is the mother of six children.
