Get to know Anesthesiologist Dr. Roy Brownlow, who serves patients in Newnan, Georgia. Dr. Brownlow has his own private practice – Georgia Pain and Spine Care – located in Newnan, Georgia. Georgia Pain and Spine Care is a full-time pain management clinic that has been dedicated to providing care for patients in Coweta as well as the surrounding counties since 2010. Their mission is to restore each individual to their original lifestyle prior to the onset of pain and continue to manage or even eliminate it. The clinic offers: specialized pain management procedures; targeted physical therapy; lifestyle education and modification; durable medical equipment; and management of patients’ care in respect to other medical services currently being rendered. Georgia Pain and Spine Care has won several awards with the Newnan Chamber of Commerce and has been recognized as a center for excellence for the entire Atlanta region. Dr. Brownlow received his medical degree from Wake Forest School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.Thereafter, he went on to complete his internship in General Surgery and residency in Anesthesia with an emphasis on Pain Management at the same University. While attending medical school/ residency training, he was the proud recipient of a Naval scholarship. He was also the recipient of two NIH research grants and awarded top research honors during his residency training. Dr. Brownlow is the past President of the Georgia Society of Interventional Pain Physicians and the Greater Atlanta Pain Society. He is currently a member of the American Medical Association (AMA). Founded in 1847 and incorporated in 1897, the AMA is the largest association of physicians—both MDs and DOs—and medical students in the United States. Their mission is “to promote the art and science of medicine and the betterment of public health.” Dr. Brownlow is board-certified in both Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine. Anesthesiology is the medical speciality concerned with the total perioperative care of patients before, during, and after surgery. It encompasses anesthesia, intensive care medicine, critical emergency medicine and pain medicine. Pain management is a branch of medicine employing an interdisciplinary approach for easing the suffering and improving the quality of life of those living with chronic pain. With extensive expertise in his field, Dr. Brownlow is highly qualified to administer anesthetics, which are medicines used to block nerve sensation. His clinical interests include acute pain, chronic pain, and cancer pain. Although he serves as a consultant to other physicians, he is often the principal treating physician, providing care at various levels.
