Dr. Collado earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology in 2002 at the University of the Philippines (U.P.), and completed his medical degree in 2007 at the UP College of Medicine. He finished his internal medicine residency at Rush University Medical Center (2009-2012). After practicing as an internist at Cleveland Clinic Foundation for one year (2012-2013), he joined Rush University Medical Center for a cardiovascular disease fellowship (2013-2016) and served as chief cardiology fellow (2015-2016). He then completed his interventional cardiology fellowship at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Harvard Medical School in Boston, MA (2016-2017). He completed his fellowship in adult congenital and structural heart disease at Rush University (2018-2019).
Subsequent to his education, Dr. Collado attained board certification in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease medicine, and interventional cardiology through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). Dr. Collado is also board-certified in adult echocardiography by the National Board of Echocardiography and in nuclear cardiology by the Certification Board for Nuclear Cardiology. The American Board of Internal Medicine is a 501 nonprofit, self-appointed physician-evaluation organization that certifies physicians practicing internal medicine and its subspecialties.
Cardiology is a branch of medicine that treats patients with disorders of the heart as well as some parts of the circulatory system. The field includes medical diagnosis and treatment of congenital heart defects, coronary artery disease, heart failure, valvular heart disease and electrophysiology.
Interventional cardiology is a branch of cardiology which treats patients with coronary artery disease, especially myocardial infarction, through percutaneous treatment with balloon angioplasty and coronary stents.
