Get to know Psychiatrist Dr. David A. Rodriguez, who serves patients in San Antonio, Texas.

Dr. Rodriguez is a psychiatrist who is affiliated with University Hospital, which is a part of University Health in San Antonio, Texas.

Back in 1998, Dr. Rodriguez graduated with his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from St. Mary’s University. He then went on to earn his Master of Science degree in Preventive Medicine and Community Health from the University of Texas Medical Branch in 2001, and his medical degree from the Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine at UT Health San Antonio in 2007.

Furthering his training, he performed his residency in psychiatry and his fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at the Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine at UT Health San Antonio in 2014 and 2015, respectively. 

Following his education, the doctor attained board certification through the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). The ABPN is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to serving the professions of psychiatry and neurology.

Psychiatry is the medical specialty devoted to the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of mental disorders. These include various maladaptations related to mood, behavior, cognition, and perceptions. Psychiatrists evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders. They conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations, develop treatment plans, prescribe medication, and evaluate treatment results.

On a more personal note, Dr. Rodriguez is fluent in both English and Spanish.
