Get to know Pediatrician & Pediatric Critical Care Specialist Dr. Stefanie Gauguet, who serves patients in Worcester, Massachusetts. 

Dr. Gauguet is a trusted pediatrician & pediatric critical care specialist at UMass Memorial Medical Center – University Campus in Worcester, Massachusetts. 

As for her academic title, she serves as an Assistant Professor within the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Massachusetts Medical School.

Educated in Germany, Dr. Gauguet graduated with her medical degree from the Faculty of Medicine of the Christian-Albrecht University of Kiel in 2001. She then relocated to the United States, performing her residency in pediatrics and her fellowship in pediatric critical care medicine at Boston Children’s Hospital in 2007 and 2010, respectively. 

Licensed to practice medicine in Massachusetts, she is board-certified in pediatrics and pediatric critical care medicine by the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP). The mission of the ABP is to advance child health by certifying pediatricians who meet standards of excellence and are committed to continuous learning and improvement.

Pediatrics is the branch of medicine that involves the medical care of infants, children, and adolescents. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends individuals be under pediatric care up to the age of 21. 

Pediatricians provide medical care to people ranging in age from newborns to young adults. They are trained to examine, diagnose, and treat children with a wide variety of injuries and illnesses through all of their developmental stages, as they grow and mature.

Pediatric critical care specialists treat children from birth through the teen years. They choose to make caring for children who are very sick the core of their medical practice. Their advanced training and experience prepare them to give children in PICUs the unique medical care that they need.

On a more personal note, Dr. Gauguet is fluent in both English and German.
