What is the best exercise if you have bad knees?
The question is far too broad. It is a bit like asking what is the best car. Sometimes, people need a pick up truck, sometimes, they need a “soft ride” etc. The “best” exercise depends on the problem that is causing the pain. See your orthopedic surgeon about this. Adam I. Harris, M.D. READ MORE
When should I see an orthopedist for foot pain?
In general, you're better off with an Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle specialist than a podiatrist. Obviously, there are some exception in both directions. I am, however an Adult Reconstruction specialist (Hip and Knee) so I'm not your guy. READ MORE
Which is better ankle fusion or ankle replacement?
I suggest that you find a Board Certified, Fellowship Trained Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle specialist. Have him/her evaluate you, then you can get real information to answer your question. READ MORE

Can you bend knee after meniscus repair?
First, I have to pose a question. Do you mean repair, where the meniscus is sewn back together (unusual procedure in a 37 year old) or where the meniscus is trimmed to an intact edge. In the case of the former, some limits on motion are common after the surgery, but some bending is always allowed. In the case of the latter, bending is encouraged. READ MORE
Risks of corticosteroids?
Addressing your second question first, if you have NO PAIN, then I do not recommend any injections. Regarding the other question, it is a matter of dose and distribution. The amount of steroids that the rest of the body sees after injecting a joint is minimal, and very very unlikely to contribute to further issues regarding AVN READ MORE

How do I stop my knees from cracking?

Get to know Orthopaedic Surgeon Dr. Adam I. Harris, who serves patients in San Antonio, Texas.
Dr. Harris is a seasoned orthopaedic surgeon who is known for introducing tissue sparing techniques for hip and knee replacement to San Antonio and South Texas. These techniques are distinguished that they do not cut into muscles and in that they limit or eliminate the use of force to complete the surgery. They allow for a more rapid recovery than was possible before or is possible with other techniques.
Originally in San Antonio as part of a large group, Dr. Harris founded San Antonio Orthopaedic Specialists in 2002 in order to maintain the focus on individual patient care. “Our mission is to provide excellence in orthopaedic care and to treat each patient as if they were family. To help accomplish our mission, we have developed specialty tools designed to increase the quality of care, while reducing recovery time” as stated on the practice’s website.
With a board educational background, Dr. Harris earned top honors at the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine, and graduated cum laude from Yale, majoring in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry. He trained at Rush Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center under Dr. Jorge Galante, an internationally recognized pioneer and expert in adult reconstruction. For four and a half years, he also taught orthopaedic surgical residents who followed in the program at Rush Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center.
Following his training, the doctor became board-certified in orthopaedic surgery by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (ABOS). The ABOS is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopaedic residents and surgeons as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopaedic surgeons.
Other research by Dr. Harris concerns the use of allograft bone (banked bone) in the salvage of failed total joint replacements and computer-assisted analysis of orthopædic radiographs. This material has been published as part of peer-reviewed orthopaedic symposia, orthopaedic journals, and texts. He has presented this material both nationally and internationally. Other teaching activities include invited lectures to other medical specialties on important general orthopaedic issues.
Orthopaedic surgery is the branch of surgery concerned with conditions involving the musculoskeletal system. Orthopaedic surgeons use both surgical and non-surgical means to treat musculoskeletal trauma, spine diseases, sports injuries, degenerative diseases, infections, tumors, and congenital disorders.
In honor of his clinical expertise, Dr. Harris is the recipient of several awards and recognitions, including Patients’ Choice Award (2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018), Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2015, 2018), and Patients’ Choice 5th Anniversary Award (2020).
