Get to know Pathologist Dr. Haig Minassian, who serves patients in Holmdel, New Jersey

Dr. Minassian is a remarkable anatomic, clinical, and laboratory pathologist featuring twenty-eight years of experience in the pathology arena. He is currently on staff at Hackensack Meridian Health in New Jersey. As such, he is affiliated with HMH Bayshore Medical Center in Holmdel, NJ, HMH Ocean Medical Center in Brick, NJ, and HMH Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank, NJ.

A 1981-graduate of the Aleppo University Faculty of Medicine in Aleppo, Syria, Dr. Minassian relocated to the United States, where he served his pathology residency at Monmouth Medical Center and Robert Wood Johnson Medical School of Rutgers University in Long Branch, NJ (1993). Furthermore, he is fellowship-trained in cytopathology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX (1994).

Subsequent to his education, the doctor attained board certification in cytopathology (1997) and clinical and anatomic pathology (1996) through the American Board of Pathology. The American Board of Pathology is one of 24 member boards of the American Board of Medical Specialties. This organization was assembled in May 1936, under the approval of the Advisory Board for Medical Specialties and the American Medical Association Council on Medical Education and Hospitals.

Pathology is the study of the causes and effects of disease or injury. The word pathology also refers to the study of disease in general, incorporating a wide range of biology research fields and medical practices.
