Dr. Bryan, a board-certified cardiothoracic surgeon, brings over 25 years of experience in heart valve surgery, coronary bypass, and advanced cardiac procedures. He will serve as the Chief of the Department of Surgery and Medical Director of Cardiovascular Services at Bayfront Health St. Petersburg.
Dr. Bryan’s academic journey began with coursework in aerospace science at Tennessee State University and neurobiology at Harvard University in 1982. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree, summa cum laude, from Vanderbilt University School of Arts and Sciences in 1984. He then obtained his Doctor of Medicine degree from Emory University School of Medicine in 1988. Dr. Bryan completed his residencies in general surgery and cardiothoracic surgery at Emory University Affiliated Hospitals, where he served as administrative chief resident in cardiothoracic surgery and chief resident in general surgery. He further honed his expertise through a research fellowship at the Carlyle-Fraser Heart Center and graduated from the Harvard Medical School Surgical Leadership Program.
Throughout his illustrious career, Dr. Bryan has held several significant roles in the healthcare sector. From 2021 to 2022, he served as the Medical Director of Clinical Support and Cardiovascular Care at AdventHealth Medical Group. His previous roles also include serving as an attending staff surgeon and contributing to the structural heart valve program with the West Florida Division of HCA. At Northside Hospital, he proudly attained a prestigious three-star ranking from the Society of Thoracic Surgeons for both cardiac surgery and combined aortic valve and coronary bypass surgery.
