A trusted gastroenterologist, Dr. Castillo works with patients at Mercyhealth Michael Berry Building in Janesville, Wisconsin. He specializes in bile duct disorders, hepatitis, irritable bowel disease, Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, and pancreatitis.

A Colombian native, Dr. Castillo earned his medical degree from Javeriana University in Bogota. After relocating to the United States, he completed his residency in internal medicine at the Hahnemann University Hospital, and his fellowship in gastroenterology at the Allegheny General Hospital.

Following his training, the doctor attained board certification in gastroenterology and internal medicine through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Gastroenterology is the branch of medicine focused on the digestive system and its disorders. A gastroenterologist is a physician who has extensive training in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders related to the esophagus, stomach, small intestines, colon, liver, pancreas, and biliary system.
