Get to know Emergency Physician Dr. David Thompson, who serves patients in Cincinnati, Ohio.

A board-certified emergency physician, Dr. Thompson is the Director of Quality Improvement and Patient Safety, and an Associate Professor within the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Cincinnati.

The University of Cincinnati offers students a balance of educational excellence and real-world experience. It is a public research university with an enrollment of more than 46,000 students, and has been named “Among the top tier of the Best National Universities,” according to U.S. News & World Report.

Graduating with his Bachelor of Arts degree from Brown University, Dr. Thompson earned his medical degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He completed his Master of Public Health degree (MPH) at the Harvard School of Public Health, and his residency in emergency medicine at Denver Health.

In pursuit of clinical excellence, the doctor is board-certified in emergency medicine by the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM). The ABEM is one of 24 medical specialty certification boards recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties.

Emergency medicine, also known as accident and emergency medicine, is the medical specialty concerned with the care of illnesses or injuries requiring immediate medical attention. An emergency physician works in an emergency department to care for acutely ill or injured patients on an unscheduled basis.
