Jaffrey S. One of the Valley’s premier gastroenterologists, Dr. Kazi joined Arizona Gastrointestinal Associates in 2012. His primary practice location is Scottsdale Gastroenterology Specialists with two offices in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Committed to improving the overall health and well-being of his patients, Dr. Kazi offers complete services for evaluating and treating conditions of the esophagus, stomach, intestines, colon, liver, gallbladder & pancreas along with exciting new non-surgical options for weight loss. Whether a patient is experiencing stomach pain, heartburn, indigestion, or more severe symptoms, he is able to provide expert diagnosis and treatments to help them feel better as fast as possible.
With a special interest in advanced endoscopies such as ERCP and disorders of bile ducts and the pancreas, he performs upper endoscopy and (EGD), colonoscopy, PEG tube placements (feeding tubes), hemorrhoidal treatment, and push enteroscopy (endoscopy of the small intestine). He has performed over 24,000 endoscopies and has never had a perforation.
Because nutrition and dietetics have always been an essential part of his gastroenterology and digestive clinical practice, Dr. Kazi has created a new segment of services dedicated to patient nutrition – Scottsdale Nutrition & Dietary Center. “Growing the nutritional aspect of my practice is essential for the good of all my patients. For true health, we need to incorporate a preventive aspect. And whether it’s for general wellness, weight management or addressing a digestive condition, good nutrition always plays a key role” expressed the doctor.
An assistant professor at Midwestern State University, School of Medicine, Dr. Kazi teaches at the University of Arizona College of Medicine and advises and teaches medical students and physician residents from local hospitals.
His acclaimed career in medicine began after he earned his medical degree from Dow Medical College in Pakistan. He then went on to perform his residency in internal medicine and his fellowship in gastroenterology at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Illinois in 1990 and 1993, respectively. Following several years in private practice in Chicago, he moved to Scottsdale in 2004 and opened Colon & Digestive Health Specialists.
Following his education, Dr. Kazi attained board certification in gastroenterology through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.
Selected as one of America’s top physicians, Dr. Kazi is involved in various committees at HonorHealth Shea Medical Center and Osborn Medical Center and serves on the credentialing committee (Osborn) and on the pharmacy and therapeutic committee (Shea) where he previously served as the Department of Medicine vice chair. He is active in clinical research trials for conditions such as celiac disease and encephalopathy.
