Pathology Reference Laboratory, LLC was officially founded in 2000, however, its roots go back to 1922 with Dr. John Moore, who was San Antonio’s first full time pathologist. The physician-owned group provides full pathology services to both physicians and hospitals alike, including cytopathology and fine needle aspirations, dermatopathology, GI pathology, hematopathology, and frozen section.
Nowadays, the laboratory consists of over 30 board-certified pathologists and 100 employees, including a seasoned team of cytotechnologists, histotechnologists, sales, and support staff. Each member in the organization is a part of the team and plays a vital role in delivering diagnostic excellence. They are dedicated to providing the highest quality technical and medical professional services to patients and the healthcare providers they are privileged to serve.
With a broad educational background, Dr. McBurney graduated with his medical degree from the University of Michigan Medical School. He then went on to serve an internship at Boston Children’s Hospital, followed by a residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at the University of Michigan Hospitals and Health Centers.
Excelling in his profession, he is board-certified in anatomic and clinical pathology by the American Board of Pathology (ABPath).
