Dr. Ofer M. Wellisch, a distinguished specialist in pain management, is proud to be a member of Stamford Health Medical Group, providing expert care in Stamford and Greenwich, Connecticut. With a commitment to personalized patient care, he emphasizes the importance of educating both patients and their families about the various treatment options available for pain management.

A graduate of the Sackler School of Medicine, Dr. Wellisch completed his internship at Beth Israel Medical Center and his residency at Maimonides Medical Center. His journey in pain medicine began at Stanford University School of Medicine in Palo Alto, California, where he not only honed his clinical skills but also served as teaching faculty, mentoring the next generation of medical professionals.

A Diplomate of both the American Board of Addiction Medicine and the American Board of Anesthesiology, Dr. Wellisch is actively involved in numerous professional organizations, including the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the American Academy of Pain Medicine, the American Pain Society, the International Association for Study of Pain, and the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians.

Passionate about education, Dr. Wellisch dedicates his time to training medical students, residents, and fellows in pain management techniques. His research contributions in Molecular Neuroscience and the “patient experience” have resulted in numerous publications and invitations to serve as a guest reviewer for various medical specialty journals. 

With a vision to enhance pain management services, Dr. Wellisch is establishing a state-of-the-art multidisciplinary pain center at Stamford Health, aimed at serving the local community and beyond. His dedication to patient-centered care has earned him recognition as a “Top Doctor,” and he has previously led a pain management program to achieve the #1 ranking by Castle Connolly.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Dr. Wellisch brings a personal touch to his practice. Fluent in both English and Hebrew, he is committed to making healthcare accessible to patients from diverse cultural backgrounds.

When he is not caring for his patients, Dr. Wellisch enjoys spending quality time with his family, including his wife and three children. His commitment to both his profession and his family reflects his belief in the importance of balance and holistic well-being.
