A seasoned pulmonologist, Dr. MacDonald is affiliated with The Center for Respiratory and Sleep Disorders in Novi, Michigan. Providing high quality and professional care, he specializes in obstructive sleep apnea, excessive sleepiness, insomnia, nocturnal mechanical ventilation, asthma, COPD, bronchoscopy, lung cancer, lung cancer screening, and pleural effusion.
The Center for Respiratory and Sleep Disorders serves people in the southeastern Michigan community through the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders. It is staffed by sleep physicians and technologists with extensive experience in the treatment of such problems.
Graduating with his Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy and his medical degree from Wayne State University, Dr. MacDonald completed his residency in internal medicine at Detroit Medical Center and Grace Hospital, where he was Chief Resident. He then went on to complete his residency in pulmonary disease, critical care and sleep medicine at Henry Ford Health Systems.
Subsequent to his education, the doctor attained board certification in pulmonary disease, critical care medicine, sleep medicine, and internal medicine through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.
On a professional level, Dr. MacDonald is a proud member of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, the American College of Chest Physicians, the American Thoracic Society, the American College of Physicians, the Metro Detroit Sleep Society, and the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honors Society.
Among his other roles, he serves as the Chief of Pulmonary Medicine at Huron Valley-Sinai Hospital and the Associate Program Director of the Transitional Medicine Residency Program at Detroit Medical Center. He can also be found on staff at Sinai-Grace Hospital, Providence Hospital, Botsford Hospital, and Beaumont Hospital-Royal Oak.
Teaching students, Dr. Macdonald serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Wayne State University School of Medicine, and Clinical Assistant Professor at the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine.
