Get to know Hematologist-Oncologist Dr. Hamza Minhas, who serves patients throughout the State of Mississippi.

An exceptional hematologist-oncologist, Dr. Minhas is affiliated with The Medical Oncology Group, working with patients at their offices in Gulfport, Biloxi, Diamondhead, and Ocean Springs, Mississippi.

As the longest running oncology group on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, the Medical Oncology Group is devoted to providing high-level, compassionate care for their patients.

Before embarking on his professional journey, Dr. Minhas studied medicine at the Dow Medical College in Pakistan. After relocating to the United States, he completed his residency, PGY4 chief residency and fellowship in hematology & medical oncology at the Brookdale Hospital Medical Center.

Following his training, the doctor attained board certification in hematology, medical oncology, and internal medicine through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Hematology is the branch of medicine concerned with the study of the cause, prognosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases related to blood. Oncology is a branch of medicine that deals with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer. A hematologist-oncologist is a physician who specializes in the diagnosis, treatment, or prevention of cancer, malignant blood diseases such as leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma, and blood disorders such as iron-deficiency anemia, clotting abnormalities, hemophilia, sickle-cell disease, and a rare hematologic related syndromes, and diseases.
