A board-certified and fellowship-trained cardiologist, Dr. Makki is affiliated with Pima Heart & Vascular. His areas of clinical interest include PCI, intracoronary imaging, IVUS/OCT/FFR, complex PCI, coronary atherectomy, impella placement, peripheral angiography, peripheral intervention, above and below knee, and peripheral atherectomy.
Pima Heart and Vascular is the largest privately owned and operated cardiovascular practice in Arizona. Their board-certified and board-eligible physicians specialize in internal medicine, general, interventional, and structural cardiology, electrophysiology, cardiothoracic surgery, and vascular surgery. They provide services in clinics throughout Southern Arizona, as well as at their Vascular Lab, Vein Center, Ambulatory Surgery Center, and at most area hospitals.
A native of Lebanon, Dr. Makki obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and earned his medical degree from the American University of Beirut. Upon relocating to the United States, he completed his residency in internal medicine at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, followed by two consecutive fellowships in cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology at the Ohio State Wexner Medical Center.
Subsequent to his education, the doctor attained board certification in cardiovascular disease, interventional cardiology, nuclear medicine, vascular medicine interpretation, and internal medicine through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.
In order to remain up to date in his field, he is an active member of the Cardiovascular Research Technology Faculty, the American College of Cardiology Council – Ohio Chapter, the American College of Cardiology, the American Medical Association, the American Heart Association, the American College of Physician,and the Alpha Omega Alpha Society.
As for his academic appointments, Dr. Makki serves as an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Banner University of Arizona Medical Center.
