Get to know Hospitalist Dr. Veronica Efros, who serves patients in Bennettsville, South Carolina & Laurinburg, North Carolina.

Dr. Efros is a hospitalist working within the OsteoArthritis Knee Program at Palmetto Wellness & Injury Center. She sees patients at the office in Bennettsville, South Carolina.

Palmetto Wellness & Injury Center is multi-specialty, medical and chiropractic practice serving Marlboro & Chesterfield Counties. The providers provide care for patients, helping them with pain, injury recovery, and wellness/preventative care. Offering non-surgical, non-opioid pain treatment programs, the OsteoArthritis Knee Program at Palmetto Wellness & Injury Center is extremely successful in reducing pain, improving function and strength, as well as preventing the need for knee replacement surgery. 

Since 2015, Dr. Efros has also been providing inpatient care at Scotland Memorial Hospital in Laurinburg, North Carolina.

During a patient’s stay at Scotland Memorial Hospital, members of the hospitalist team may provide medical care. These team members: closely monitor conditions, order tests and medications, bring in medical or surgical specialists as needed, as well keep the personal physician, as well as the patient and their family well informed. He or she will assist the patient through a smooth and speedy recovery process by following up on tests and adjusting their treatment regimen throughout the day based on those test results.

At the start of her academic career, Dr. Efros graduated with her medical degree from Nicolae Testemițanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Moldova. Upon relocating to the United States, she went on to complete her residency in family medicine at St. Luke’s University Hospital in Pennsylvania.

Aided by her expertise, the doctor is board-certified in family medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM). The ABFM is a non-profit, independent medical association of American physicians who practice in family medicine and its sub-specialties.

Prestigious professional organizations of which Dr. Efros is a member of include: the American Academy of Family Physicians, the American Medical Association, the Society of Hospital Medicine, and the American Geriatrics Society.

Among her volunteer experience, she is a supporter of the Animal Welfare cause of the Human Society of Marlboro County. 

Hospital medicine is a medical specialty that exists in some countries as a branch of internal or family medicine, dealing with the care of acutely ill hospitalized patients. Physicians whose primary professional focus is caring for hospitalized patients only while they are in the hospital are called hospitalists.
